Justice in America – Zantac Lawsuit Update – What You Need to Know

In 1983, the heartburn drug, Zantac was approved as a prescription drug in the U.S. It went from one of the world’s best-selling drugs to being pulled from store shelves.

Nearly four decades later, the FDA ordered Zantac and its generics be removed from the market, saying they have been exposing consumers to the risk of cancer.

Exposure to high amounts of NDMA, (Nitrosodimethylamine), is thought to cause gastric or colorectal cancer, according to the World Health Organization. It’s extremely toxic to the liver. Even small amounts may be linked to liver damage.

Both Zantac and ranitidine contain high levels of NDMA, and research indicates that the NDMA forms when the active ingredient, ranitidine is exposed to heat and humidity.

Evidence suggests that the manufacturers of Zantac knew of ranitidine’s ability to break down into NDMA since before the drug was put on the market.

However, despite this knowledge, they never issued any warning, or added any information to the label to warn customers of this danger.

Willie “Marcus” Fields, Levin Papantonio Rafferty’s client, used Zantac from 1995 until 2010 and as a result he developed Bladder, Stomach, Prostate, and Liver cancer.
