On July 15, 2018 a MCI motorcoach, which was defective and unreasonably dangerous as designed and manufactured in 1996 because it lacked seatbelts for the passengers, crashed.
This was a survivable accident. The majority of the occupants did survive. However, the lack of safety belts caused injury and deaths that otherwise would not have manifested.
The NTSB “Bus Crashworthiness Issues” report of 1999 discusses the availability of seat belts in the domestic market at the time of the manufacture of the incident motorcoach.
