Sergeant Pompano alleges he was detained for having made a critical comment about Hermosa Beach Police, Officers’ Donovan Sellan and George Brunn, only to be released from custody once the officers and watch commander discovered he was an LAPD officer. Gary also discusses the case of Adetokunbo Shoyoye, a Nigerian expatriate who was allegedly unlawfully detained by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for nearly two weeks because of a clerical error. The Sheriff’s Department purportedly confused Mr. Shoyoye as a detainee of Indian descent, prolonging his incarceration.
